RRH circumpolar special issue - deadline for papers extended!
Human Health at the Ends of the Earth
A special issue of the North American section of Rural and Remote Health
Submit by October 31, 2009 for 2010 publication
The journal issue “Human Health at the Ends of the Earth” will focus on health issues in the Arctic and Antarctic regions, including the circumpolar environments of the Arctic (with the countries of the US, Canada, Greenland/Denmark, Iceland, Norway Finland, Sweden and the Russian Federation) and the Antarctic.
The editors are:
- Dr Laura Arbour from Canada (Vancouver Island Health Authority & UBC Medical Genetics) {guest editor}
- Dr Alan Parkinson from the US (CDC & Prevention's Arctic Investigations Program) {guest editor}
- Professor Judith C Kulig (co-North American Regional Editor, RRH).
Suggested topics include, but are not limited to:
Indigenous health; the impact of global warming on mental and physical health; biological and social determinants of health; the development of unique healthcare delivery systems for local and remote care; health promotion and community development in local circumpolar communities.
Manuscripts are now invited for review, and are expected to:
be in the form of original research, commentary, review, case report or project report
follow RRH author guidelines (available from RRH homepage)have a rural/remote focus
be submitted via the RRH website
be received by October 31, 2009.
