I am a veterinarian (DVM) by training. I completed an MSc in Tropical Veterinary Epidemiology, followed by a Post-Diploma in Basic Microbiology at the Free University of Berlin, Germany. After more than 15 years of service as a university lecturer, I pursued a PhD in Food Science and Safety at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences, Norway. Currently, I teach and supervise MSc and PhD students in the areas of food safety and zoonoses at Mekelle University, Ethiopia.
