Rebecca Schiff is an Associate Professor in the Department of Health Sciences at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. Dr. Schiff has a long history of working closely with rural, remote, and Indigenous communities across Canada to investigate and research health issues and solutions, with a particular focus on determinants of community health and wellness. She is committed to community-engaged, interdisciplinary research, rooted in principles of collaborative and respectful inquiry. Dr. Schiff lived for several years in Happy Valley - Goose Bay, NL, a northern and remote Canadian community where she worked closely with Inuit, First Nations, and MĂ©tis communities to investigate issues in remote and indigenous health and healthcare. During her time in Newfoundland and Labrador, Rebecca developed a firsthand understanding of the unique challenges and strengths of life in rural and remote communities. Dr. Schiff's work includes projects focusing on a wide range of community health determinants and issues in rural and remote healthcare.
