Professor Brown is a leader in rural health education and research and is the Director of the University of Newcastle Department of Rural Health, based in Tamworth. She is an Advanced Accredited Practicing Dietitian with over 30 years of experience in her field. After eight years working as a clinical dietitian in metropolitan setting Leanne ventured into academia at the University of Newcastle Department of Rural Health in 2003. Her research interests include rural health workforce issues, rural health service delivery and models of care, interventions for chronic disease and optimising rural health. Leanne is also interested in using knowledge translation and implementation frameworks to best translate evidence into practical solutions for rural communities. She has expertise in mixed methods and qualitative research.
