Dr. Izolde Bouloukaki serves as an Assistant Professor of Primary Care and Public Health at the Department of Social Medicine, School of Medicine, University of Crete, Greece, under the supervision of prof. I. Tsiligianni. She was previously (till March 2023) served as a consultant in Family Medicine, employed in the Greek NHS, since 2012. She also, since 2003, serves as an attending physician in the Sleep Disorders Center, at the Department of Thoracic Medicine, in the University of Crete, at Heraklion, Crete, Greece, under the supervision of prof. S. Schiza. Dr. Bouloukaki received her Medical Degree in 2002 from the University of Crete. Her primary specialty is Family Medicine, which she completed in 2012. She earned a PhD degree in respiratory medicine (smoking cessation) in 2010 from the University of Crete. She specialized in Sleep Medicine, receiving a certification of Somnologist Expert in Sleep Medicine from the ESRS in 2014. Her primary scientific interests include epidemiology in primary care, pathophysiology, cardiovascular and metabolic consequences of sleep breathing disorders, IPF, COPD, asthma and smoking cessation. She has 115 publications in peer reviewed Journals, chapters in books and numerous invited lectures and abstracts in National and international congresses.
